Anti Aging and Retinol - More Popular Than Ever
Dave Cahill
In today's so-called modern world physical looks is becoming more and more important to more and more people - both women and men. As both genders have become increasingly vain about their looks and the desire to stay and look young have becoming increasingly important anti-aging skin care products and treatments are in high demand and have become extremely popular all over the world.
Clearly, the demand for any anti-aging product is dependant on its effectiveness and because the market has grown so large there is a wide and varied line of products that really do a great job.
One of those popular products is retinyl palmitate. Also called retinol, is a direct derivative of Vitamin A. Originally used for treating the eyes, but like many discoveries its use as a treatment for eliminating wrinkles around the eyes was discovered by chance. The story goes that an elderly lady realized that after applying retinol to her eyes and surrounding areas for a certain period of time that her wrinkles had nearly vanished.
Today, retinol is included in most of the anti-aging skin care products that focus on the area surrounding the eyes. However, it can also be used effectively on other parts of the skin. If you are not a suitable candidate for the Retin A treatment (see your doctor or dermatologist for suitability) you could try one of the many over-the-counter cosmetic products that contain retinol.
It's generally understood that the highest quality anti-aging products contain the highest percentage of retinol. Although retinol has clearly gained great notoriety and fame as a result of its ability to effectively rejuvenate the skin. On the other hand, retinol isn't the fountain of youth for everyone because for some it can cause terrible skin allergies. As a result, if you're new to this miracle drug it would be wise to begin treatment using a low percentage and work up to higher amounts over a few weeks to give the skin a little time to get accustomed to it.
Other popular potent anti-aging skin care treatments start with a good exfoliating agent such as beta hydroxyl acid (aim at concentrations of 15 percent or less) and complement these treatments with Retin A for around the eyes and Vitamin C for the rest of the skin on the face. Another factor in maintaining that youthful appearance is to use a good nourishing or hydrating cream on a nightly basis - especially once you get a bit older.
Another way to help prevent premature aging is to avoid "over" exposure to the sun. Reasonable sun exposure is fine but simply don't overdue it by laying out for hours on end over a lifetime.
